The
Mc Kay Foods Company was established in 1975 and acquired by N.H.
Case in 1996.
The main core
business involved the production of burgers and pastry products
including pies, sausage rolls, pasties as well as potato topped
pies. These products were supplied to Waitrose, Safeway, NISA and
CWS for retail sale and by many local authorities throughout the
United Kingdom for their catering needs.
Following the
acquisition it was decided that a new £1million purpose built
factory should be constructed which would cater for the planned
expansion. The new purpose built factory was duly designed by company
management and built and commissioned on the Warminster business
park.
Since
the completion of the new factory the company has developed and
produced, in addition to the existing products, a wide range of
soups, ready meals, pudding and ancillary items for hospitals, universities,
wholesalers and HMP Prison Service.
The full range
of frozen soup includes 16 varieties which are high in nutritional
values, made from natural ingredients and are available in single
or multi portion containers.
An extensive
range of multi portion, cook-frozen ready meals is also available
and includes meat, fish, vegetarian and pasta dishes. Multi portion
foils of vegetables including mashed potato, peas and carrots etc.
are available to complement meals.
More recently
the company has been involved with the development of the Lloyd
Grossman inspired list of dishes that are called “Chef’s
Meals” and which are widely used throughout the National Health
service. There are 20 approved dishes currently produced for the
NHS and more under development.
The Mc Kay Foods
development team are committed to ongoing product development and
also offer the flexibility to develop products to meet individual
requirements and needs.
