Dysphagia Diet Range

We have a specialist range of meals suitable for those suffering from Dysphagia. Our textured, pureed and reshaped meals are visually appetising and nutritionally balanced.

Dysphagia occurs when there is a problem with any part of the swallowing process and there are varying levels of it; some people are completely unable to swallow, others have trouble swallowing liquids and others experience difficulty and pain.

How We Can Help

People who suffer from Dysphagia may require a pureed diet of texture modified food.  We work with partners Simply Food Solutions, stocking their Simply Puree range of meals, desserts and snacks.

Working to national descriptors developed by the British Dietetic Association, we reflect the appropriate textures in our meals, meaning that you don’t have to worry about achieving the correct consistency for the correct soft diet.

The IDDSI Framework

Dysphagia Diet & IDDSI

The Individual Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is a global standard with terminology and definitions to describe texture modified foods and thickened liquid used for individuals with dysphagia of all ages, in all care settings, and for all cultures.

The IDDSI framework consists of a continuum of 8 levels (0-7). See below for further detail of what these levels include.

IDDSI Levels Explained

Levels are identified by text labels, numbers, and colour codes. The standardisation descriptors and tasting methods will allow for consistent production and easy testing of thickened liquids and texture modified foods.

Non-Allergen Meals

We supply meals that do not contain any of the major allergens in their recipes. The major allergens are those defined in the current legislation as cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanut, soya, milk, tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame & sulphites.

Non-Gluten Containing Ingredient (NGCI) Meals

Only foods that contain 20 parts per million (ppm) or less can be labelled as ‘gluten free’. We stock a concise range of NGCI ready meals suitable for those requiring this diet.
